BLACK WALL STREET 2.0

BWSPlaque2.jpg

Oakland is home to several notable and culturally diverse business districts, including Chinatown, Koreatown(KONO), Little Saigon, and the Fruitvale District. There are currently no predominantly African American owned business districts in the city, and very few anywhere in the country.

Using the model of Black Cooperative Economics, we will locate the best possible location within Oakland to develop a thriving, Black business district, similar to the historically infamous, "Black Wall St" that thrived 100 years ago in Tulsa, OK. Not only will Black businesses thrive here, but the development and real estate will be majority owned by the African American community.

We affectionately refer to this development project as Black Wall St. 2.0
